My Top 5 Books of 2018

So we are in the New Year and I read more books than I have in a long time. It's been really fun getting back into these fantasy worlds and I've struggled to pick my top 5. In order to qualify for this list it has to be a book I have reviewed in 2018 year not necessarily be published this year just to clarify.

Without further ado, here are my top 5 books of 2018:

Number 5:

I've been killing slimes for 300 years and maxed out my level

This book was so chill. Just so god damn chill. It had no substance but it made me feel warm and happy almost all the way through and sometimes that's all the escape I need from life.

I'm looking forward to picking up more of this series.

Number 4:

Perfect World

The only non-Light novel I managed to read from start to finish, Perfect World helped me regain some confidence in my reading and step out my comfort zone.

Perfect World was such an easy read with some interesting ideas and I'm currently reading the next one so watch out for the review soon! (Though not as soon as I would have liked since I didn't get as much time to read as I would have wanted in the last month)

Number 3:

Akaoni: Contract with a Vampire

I'll admit I was a bit pessimistic going into this one but it surprised me. It had a protagonist I enjoyed following and characters I really want to read more about. It's been driving me crazy that there isn't a second volume yet!!

Number 2:

Little Princess in Fairy Forest

Little Princess was something a bit different. A book with art I couldn't say no to I was a bit worried going in it might be a bit dark for me as it tried to emulate the fairytales of old but I found myself enjoying the impromptu family made up of a dragon, a knight and a princess.

Number 1:

Magical Girl Raising Project Vol 3

Answers and a satisfying conclusion to mysteries I'd been dying for. Magical Girl Raising Project vol 3 had a lot to live up to after the set up of its predecessor and delivered on it all with a mystery that kept me guessing and some amazing fight scenes to go with it!

Those are my top picks of what I read in 2018. I managed to read 12 books which is amazing for me really. I haven't read much until the past few years so I'm really proud of this track record.

I don't normally do New Years resolutions but if I was going to have one this year it would be to read more books by my fellow indies to try support that comity a bit more and branch out from the Light Novel comfort zone I'm in right now.

I'm looking forward to the books 2019 brings. What was your favourite read of 2018? Tell me in the comments.
